Forgiveness & Healing workshop: Hope Made Strong

Brianna Leiendecker and Dr. Phil Monroe from THI explore how forgiveness is not just a decision but a process—one that leads to deeper healing and connection. This is a powerful opportunity to learn how the Church can walk alongside people through trauma, grief, and the journey toward forgiveness. Consider using this evergreen workshop with a group.

Lunch & Learn: (re)Connect and (re)Start

This recent recording focuses on getting connected, a major topic of need that was identified in our recent Facilitator survey. Whether it's been a while since you were trained or you're actively leading a group now, there is power in connecting with fellow facilitators who share a common heart and mission. Hear Sherri Chrisman's testimony as a healing group attendee who went on to facilitate groups to help others find the healing she experienced.

Ministry partner spotlight

Healing from trauma happens through you, our healing group facilitators in ministry. This month we're saying a special thank you to Reach the Forgotten, a jail ministry in Michigan. Watch how God is using Healing the Wounded Heart to transform inmates’ lives.

Healing the Wounded Heart & Reach the Forgotten

More from Sallie Nyenhuis, Regional Leader, Chaplain at Barry County Jail, and Master Facilitator in Correctional Trauma Healing:

"Through Reach the Forgotten Jail Ministry, thousands of lives are transformed each year. We live out our mission to provide Christ-centered hope and healing through county jail chaplains and volunteers. Serving in 32 counties in Michigan jails, we offer Bible classes, worship services, recovery resources and referrals to re-entry services. We strive to break the cycle of incarceration and change the trajectory of families and communities.

Every year we hear hundreds of stories of how God encounters people through this work. These stories come from former inmates, volunteers, chaplains, and donors. Our mission changes all of us as we become an  informed community and show up in the lives of those that Jesus commands us to care about."

Resource feature

In the webinar section above, we link to a workshop centered around the role of forgiveness in the healing journey. Helpful to this process is one of our newest resources that can be used in a small group setting.

One of the tools featured in Forgiveness is breath prayers, a simple and powerful way to express yourself to God and experience his steady and peaceful presence. Most breath prayers fit easily into one inhale and exhale. Here are few to try:

[Breathe in] Oh God … [Breathe out] your love never fails. (from Psalm 48)

[Breathe in] I will trust … [Breathe out] in your lovingkindness. (from Psalm 13)

[Breathe in] You are my fortress … [Breathe out] in times of trouble. (from Psalm 59)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
